A select number of features are being retired or deprecated in XenServer v6.2.0. Some features will be re-architected for current and emerging requirements, while others will be superseded by best-of-breed products in an extended third-party ecosystem. This will result in a superior product and platform for the emerging needs of all our customers.
The Distributed Virtual Switch Controller (DVSC) is being deprecated within this release with no plans for further development. We might replace this functionality in future releases with SDN controllers emerging from the SDN ecosystem and OpenDaylightproject.
The DVSC allows configuration of networking in XenServer when using the Open vSwitch (OVS), and for the monitoring of certain aspects of the operation of the OVS. The DVSC lacks fail-over capabilities and externally addressable APIs.
